Local Men Arrested In NFLD Drug Bust
Prince George, B.C. - Two brothers from the Prince George area have made an appearance in provincial court in St. John's, Newfoundland to face charges in connection with the seizure of $1-million dollars worth of marijuana from a travel trailer.
37-year-old Murray Charles Sholty and 33-year-old Tony Lee Sholty of Fort Fraser, B.C. were in court to face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both men are scheduled to make another appearance on November 19th. Murray Sholty was released from jail after posting a $55-thousand dollar recognizance, Tony Sholty posted a $25-thousand dollar recognizance.
Conditions of their release include reporting to police in Prince George weekly, adhering to a curfew and staying away from anyone with a criminal record.
The pair was arrested on Tuesday of this week after the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Street Drug Unit pulled over a vehicle towing a travel trailer near Roaches Line, NFLD. Constable Suzanne FitzGerald says a search warrant executed on the trailer discovered 117-pounds of marijuana from a drop ceiling hidden compartment within the trailer. In addition, officers seized $12-thousand dollars in cash.
