Building Permit Values Up

Prince George, B.C. – The number of building permits issued so far this year, is very close to the numbers experienced  in 2008 up until the recession hit.
 
As of the end of September,   there have been 525   permits issued, for projects valued at $122.9 million dollars. That compares to 543 projects for the same period in 2008, with a value of $66.7 million.
 
Some of the highlights for September are:
 
·        $4,203,000  Multi Family Seniors Low Income Rental Housing, 4 buildings consisting of a total of 30 units, Provincial Rental Housing Corporation
·        $1.8 million dollars for renovations to rooms at the Ramada Hotel
·        $683,317 complete construction of Addition, Canfor PG Pulp Building
·        $355,600 Phase 1 Mill Modernization Foundation Only, Lakeland Mills
·        $1,6 million for 8 Single Family Dwellings
·        $252,950 new duplex on Creekside Way
·        $224,000 renovations to Commonwealth Building at 1302 -7th
·        $219,484 for a  3 bay extension, PG Airport Fire Hall

Our fair little city, managing the economic crisis that the surrounding community has been exposed too. We have slowed down a bit, but not as bad as other areas in the northern part of our province.

Why, it helps that we are the golden child of our premier. It helpls that our employment force is predominantly for one form of government or another.
