Prince George, B.C.- Former Prince George Mayor Colin Kinsley will make it official  later today  that  he is in the  running for the  Prince George -Peace River  Conservative nomination.

His bid for the nomination will mean there are now six  people  chasing the nomination  for  Jay Hill's  post.  Hill is stepping down as of October 25th.

The riding is a Conservative stronghold and virtually guarantees  whoever  gets the nomination will have a ticket to Ottawa.

Kinsley  served as Mayor for four, three year terms.  He  chose not to run in 2008, opening the door for  Dan Rogers.   Prior to being Mayor,  Kinsley had been  a councillor  for nearly 10 years, Chaired the Regional District for several years, and  served as President of the North Central  Municipal Association for one year.

Great news!

perfect for PG to have a strong voice like Colin pulling for us Federally. Way to go Colin!
Oh, Colin would have been way better for the post that Dick holds.
What a terrible news story to start a Thursday morning. Kinsley has kept Prince George in the stone age for too long. Give it a rest Kinsley. You're a friend to big business and no one else. Unfortunately, no one else sees to show up at the polls these days

When will we get a federal leader in this riding that pushes for something other that big money, fast cash, and resource exploitation? Try investing in people once in a while!

Kinsley has too many friends that stand to gain too much when he's elected. He's an unfortunate shoe in.
thumbs down to the guy who helped the sell off of bc rail so much for being cn's worst nightmare if no passenger service to the big smoke was made available.. still waiting after all these years
No comment.
The voice of Enbridge. If he gets in the pipeline will go through.
Kinsley has a history for sure but having an MP in your own town has benefits, love or hate him Dick Harris is proof the bucks come your way. The question is will harper win the next election? Libs are jumping all over the place and need to present thier economic plan or Harper will be around for another 3 - 4 years.
I thought Colin worked for the casino in Prince Rupert.
pggo56. Care to elaborate how Dick Harris brings bucks our way. He has no influence on anything. A couple of infrastructure spending that all riding`s received. This region needs some serious help from the federal government. declining rural population, countless economic issues, crime, etc. They want to reduce taxes for corporations so more money leaves the north. This government has done nothing for PG except set it back 10 years. It has no vision for its own country but believes it should have a seat on the security council. But they are against gun control, anti-immigration and got the church vote in the bag so the seats are safe.
Kinsley struck me as incredibly inept. He did alright for a bush-league mayor, but he's hardly MP material. However, his pro-Enbridge stance is a major plus.
I'm all for Kinsley winning this and also for Enbridge going thru. Way to go Colin!! You'll get my vote.
MP? Member of Parliament? Or Messenger of Parliament? After all, doesn't the PMO call all the shots in this country?
Hoodrich,,,,

I always held off making any comments about your worthess dribbles but this one has really convinced me that you dont ever know what the hell you are talking about. your best efforts are to simply incoherently rant against everything but without any factual back up or and plausible solutions.

this will be all the time I ever waste on your inconsequential babble. Hope your half empty glass becomes half full sometime in your miserable life. :)
Hands up all those who never saw this coming?
Personally,I am willing to listen to reasons why the Enbridge pipeling should go through, but still undecided for the most part.
Kinsley doesn't have a big enough hammer to make any difference to anything.
I doubt he can even get elected.

Whoever will get the Conservative nomination is a shoe in unless either the NDP or Liberals do not field a candidate or a viable right wing candidate will come from nowhere.

The tough fight will be the nomination. If no one else steps up, it will be Colin against one of the Peace River candidates that will be left at the final ballot.
You really think he'll get the nomination over one the the candidates from further on up the road? I think I'd hold off on making any plans for the victory celebration.
Colin and Big Dick. What a dynamic duo that would be.
Can't see the Campbell suck boy getting elected here.
gimmeabreak, someone spouts the truth and people can't handle it.We don't have some of the worst air quality and #1 for crime for nothing.Jesus Christ that is the trouble with people nowadays, they can't admit to mistakes or that there are problems with their city, kids or whatever.Nothing ever gets fixed or corrected if everyone strolls through life believing everything is rosy.Wake the F#*! Up.Go over to crackintrye, the hood, downtown, some areas of westwood, upland, queensway etc.,the BC rail Industrial site used to have a steady flow of traffic and was fairly busy, now it is dead quiet most of the time,go downtown to the light industrial site, pretty empty quiet place compared to previous years.Open your gd eyes and take a drive around your city from time to time.I have lived here many years and I like it here, but I also see and recognize the slow deterioration of a once proud and prosperous city with unlimited potential.I hope together all the citizens of PG can work together to turn it around.
Campbell was mayor of Vanocouver and the voters booted his ass out of that seat, look where he is now. The more you screw up the better job you get when it comes to government.
Nice rant Jakeadoo. Feeling better now?
