Nearly 20 thousand Fined Under New Cellphone- Driving Law

Prince George, B.C.- It has been six months since the Province introduced its new laws that ban using had held electronic devices while driving.
Since the law came into place in February, nearly 20 thousand tickets have been issued province wide. The actual number of tickets issued was 19,460. At $167 dollars a ticket, that amounts to $3,249,820 in fines.
Between September 20th and October 10th, the new impaired and excessive speeding laws have resulted in over 1,400 penalties for impaired driving and 435 penalties for excessive speeding.
