Cougars Host Americans Friday and Saturday
By 250 News
The Prince George Cougars get their first look at one of the US Division powers Friday and Saturday night at CN Centre, as the Tri-City Americans pay a visit to BC's Northern Capital.
The Cougars will look for a fourth consecutive win, after knocking off Prince Albert, Kamloops and Brandon by a combined score of 18-7 over the last week. The Cougars have won their last two games at home for a 2-2 record and face an Americans squad that is 4-3-1-0 on the road this season. The Cougars are led by Captain Brett Connolly, who has scored nine goals over his league high six game goal streak and leads the team with 11 tallies and 18 points during the season. Thursday, Connolly was named to Team WHL for the 2010 CHL SUBWAY(R) Super Series game at Prince George November 18.
The Americans, who enter the game with an 8-3-1-0 record, second in the US Division to Portland, are having to go through life without forward Brendan Shinnimin. One of the WHL's top point producers, Shinnimin is out until November 13, as he serves a 12-game suspension handed to him for checking Saskatoon Blades forward Josh Nicholls from behind on October 6.
The two teams meet again Saturday. Puck drop for both games is 7:00pm at CN Centre. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
