Prince George, B.C.-Members of the  E-PANA investigation team of the RCMP  will be in Prince George  today .  While they are here to  meet  with family members of  some of the  women who have  disappeared  or who have been murdered along Highway 16, don’t be surprised if  they  also huddle with the local investigators working on the  murder of Cynthia Maas.

Maas’ remains were discovered  Friday, October  8th in a  wooded area  south of  L.C. Gunn Park.

While there are 18  cases within the E-PANA  file,   the  murder of Cynthia Maas  has not yet been added to the E-PANA investigation.

Following a symposium in March of  2006, the RCMP made a promise to have regular meetings with family members to keep them informed of the status of the investigations.   Today’s meeting is the 7th  such session.

While not all of the E-PANA cases  are  linked to highway  16, police  put the following cases in the same group because of  some similarities.

The disappearances of 5 women  and murders of 13 others which are part of the E-Pana investigation are as  follows:

  • Gloria Moody. Murdered. Williams Lake. 1969
  • Micheline Pare: Murdered. Hudson Hope. 1970
  • Colleen MacMillen. Murdered. 100 Mile House. 1974

The  investigation of  the death of Cynthia Maas is, at this point,  in the hands  of  a local team  of investigators. The  E-PANA team will  consult with the local investigators to  see if there is anything that  would warrant  having this case added to  the E-PANA  probe.
