Prince George, B.C. - A long-time supporter of health-care programs at UNBC has stepped forward to, once again, inject financial assistance...
Over the past 15-years, Spectra Energy has donated close to $1-million dollars to support the university's Northern Medical Programs Trust, the building of the Health Sciences Centre, and scholarships and awards for students. This time, the company is helping some northern communities fulfill financial pledges made to the NMPT fund.
Spectra has announced its contributing $90-thousand dollars to the NMP Trust, an endowment fund that provides financial support to students enrolled in health professions, especially those who undertake rural placements as part of their education.
When the fund was established in 2003, communities across the North pledged to contribute, based on their population. Spectra's donation will go towards offsetting outstanding community pledges in 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Quesnel, Chetwynd, Taylor, Fort St. John, and the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.
The Trust currently has nearly 30 member municipalities and regional districts...just over one dozen have completed their pledges.
