Cougar Jesse Forsberg and Tri City's Tyler Schmidt exchange blows in 3rd
Prince George, B.C. - This new Prince George Cougars team has done what the Cats haven't been able to do since October 3rd, 2007 -- beat the Tri City Americans...
After losing 7-3 to the Americans last night, Prince George re-bounded to an 8-3 victory Saturday night at CN Centre.
The Cougars' Martin Marincin did not waste any time, scoring at 3:26 of the first, en route to a 4-0 lead after 20-minutes of play. Sena Acolatse, Troy Bourke and Charles Inglis also scored.
Marincin, Acolastse and Inglis also found the net in the second period, and Greg Fraser rounded out scoring for the Cats in the 3rd period.
Cougars goalie James Priestner was sharp in net, stopping 29 of 32 shots. Priestner was pulled in the third period of Friday night's game after four quick goals, giving newcomer Ty Rimmer his first opportunity.
The final game of the weekend double-header was a rough, penalty-filled game. The Americans were handed four majors for fighting and a game misconduct. Prince George was given three -- one of those to Jaroslav Vlach, came with a game misconduct.
After the game, the team was given a standing ovation by the thrilled fans in attendance. The cougars now head out on a four-game road trip starting Wednesday night in Spokane. The next home game is Friday, November 5th against the Edmonton Oil Kings at 7pm.
