Prince George, B.C. -  RCMP in Williams Lake have arrested an Ontario man described as a 'career criminal', after he refused to pull-over for police in Quesnel.

North District Senior Media Relations Officer, Corporal Dan Moskaluk, says Quesnel RCMP notified the Williams Lake detachment after the vehicle failed to stop on Wednesday evening.

Corporal Moskaluk says, "The suspect vehicle was seen heading towards Williams Lake at speeds up to 150-km/hr and driving in a very hazardous manner that could have endangered other motorists."

"When the vehicle attempted to evade police again (in Williams Lake), a spike belt was deployed and the vehicle was disabled," he continues.

The male suspect -- a 36-year-old man from Ontario -- attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.  A 38-year-old woman was arrested while still inside the vehicle.  Corporal Moskaluk says officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located 1,000 tablets of what is believed to be Ecstacy.

The man is facing several charges and officers discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Cranbrook, in relation to charges of theft of a vehicle.  "The investigators noted that the man had 70 previous convictions on his criminal record, accurately describing him as a career criminal," states Corporal Moskaluk.

Get him declared a dangerous offender and get him off the streets indefinitely!!
i guess the all the low life are comming here due to our slack courts !!probably gordy sent out brouchers telling them how nice it is here in ole bc
Only in Canada. Seventy convictions and still on the street!
Right, stuff another revolving resident into our over crowded prison system. It only costs half a million per year to keep a prisoner. Way to load more expenses on taxpayers.
Harper apparently wants to build new prisons. The glaring error in his plan is where he wants to put them. He wants to build them closer the the 49th All those new prisons should be built north of 66º.
That would:
provide stable employment in an area with few opportunities
give prisoner's a lot of motivation to not go back
virtually eliminate the chance for escape. The guards would be able to watch him run away for days or the polar bears would be fed.
keep them far far away from compliant taxpaying corporate fodder
Our justice system is a joke and an embarrassment to the rest of the world.

No wonder we're known as being so nice... cause we're so nice to idiots like this.

How am I supposed to feel safe?

70 convictions and only 36 years old.....wow.

Assuming he was getting convicted as soon as he became an adult at 18, that means he was getting convicted about once every three months!!!!

I suppose some of the convictions could have been for minor offences, but still, doesn't exactly sound encouraging.

Doesn't it make you wonder if the system works at all for these super offenders.....?

I think Loki makes a lot of sense. If your going to build a prison put it in the arctic circle. A lot less chance of any big escapes. Not a lot of neighbors to complain when the prison gets built too.
Half million a year for one prisoner, don't think so.
Undertaking to appear at a future date, one condition, stay out of stolen cars, keep your license, you may need it for a (bank) job. This is your last chance to show the courts that you can be a contributing member of society. NEXT CASE!
This fella may be a keeper, and might even get a couple years jail, on a conditional sentence, to be served at home, here in PG, or Will. Lake. Gotta cut him a welfare cheque to get him started here since he's from out of province.
Ain't we nice?
