Prince George, B.C. - The Province is setting up a special HST information office.

The office will be responsible for the development and distribution of information about the HST leading up to the September 2011 referendum.

The information centre will start Nov. 1, and will provide an array of information on why government introduced the HST, the benefits of the HST to B.C., and how the initiative vote will impact consumers, employees, employers and the provincial economy.

The office will be led by Tom Syer, former director of First Nations and corporate relations at a B.C. renewable energy company. Syer has an extensive background working with individuals and groups across sectors on a wide variety of issues. He formerly worked in government as deputy chief of staff for policy co-ordination and issues management, during which time he worked on government-wide initiatives and issues management, interacting extensively with both stakeholders and the public service.

There will be a province wide initiative vote on the HST on Sept. 24, 2011. Premier Gordon Campbell has committed to acting on the results of the vote, based on a simple majority.

and how much is this information office going to cost us to run from now til the vote next sept???
On top of the tax, another waste of taxpayers money.
Several big questions still remain unanswered.
Why is Campbell and his gang fighting so hard to ensure that the HST stays?
So hard in fact, that the party is willing to commit political suicide?
Do they really expect us to believe this is all about what is good for B.C.?
Is it because it is good for B.C.or is it really about what they don't want us to know, as far as the debt load is concerned?
How much money is B.C. really on the hook for?
Why will they not give us the true numbers?
And why is Campbell carrying on like he can fix this, when it is exremely unlikely that he will still be around to see it through?
And why does Campbell think that all the other dirt washing off this government is irrellevant to the HST?
Why does he seem to think that we will forget about the $18 million dollar Basi/Virk/B.C.Rail farce, for example, and forgive these inept clowns?
And how much is this Special HST information office and others, going to cost the taxpayers?
Too many skeletons rattling around in the Liberal closet to back off and give them another shot at it now.
They are making this all about the HST,when in fact, that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Campbell Liberals...still lying.

It's to try to make "banking" more profitable, Andy. It, along with all sectors of the "producing" side of our economy, in general, are seeing a continual decline in their reported rate of profit.

This is a macro-economic phenomenon, which is tied directly to growing 'labour displacement' (more particularly, 'labour INCOME displacement'), as we literally continue to replace "the man" with "the machine". And also, now, through "outsourcing" domestic manufacturing to sweat-shop countries. With whom, no matter whatever level of productivity we achieve through technology here, we will never be able to compete, short of lowering ourselves to their level. (And, ultimately, not even then.)

The HST is an extremely poor way to try to correct a much deeper problem even if it would work. Trouble is, it won't work. Long term, it'll only add to the problem.

Gordon Campbell''s government, like any other government we might elect from any of the currently active 'Parties' we have to choose from, either Provincially or Federally, is totally dependent on continued advances of 'bank credit' to survive.

While this, in actual reality, is in no ways necessary, and even deleterious to all of us as citizens, they, and we, have continually been conditioned to believe that it is.

So each of our governments, no matter what their label, will always place the welfare of the banking sector's profitablility ahead of everything else. And the HST will temporarily improve that profitability, through improving the rate of reported profit amongst the banks' most "credit-worthy" customers. And the public be damned.

And now we're to be treated to some more 'conditioning', courtesy of our so supposedly scarce tax dollars.

Campbell is just to arrogant to get it. Spend more money on an office to try and convince the general public a 2 billion dollar a year transfer from the pockets of the consumer to big business is good for us. He can try and feed us the usual liberal B.S. but it just isn't going to work this time.

Add to that the BC Rail fiasco, the millions spent, and the last minute deal to complete the cover up how can anyone trust the Campbell.

With his popularity under 10% his best move is to resign. Campbell's actions in gov't make Clark and Harcourt look like saints.
There is a new office opening up soon that may answer these questions.
...former director of First Nations and corporate relations...Hmmm? Who knows more about taxation, eh?
Propaganda mill at our expense.... Gordon Campbell should be the first on eon the recall list.
Methinks this office will turn into 'Big Brother' as far as the HST is concerned. small business beware!
