Prince George, B.C. -  A routine patrol check of a vehicle parked at a convenience store on the eastern outskirts of Prince George turned up one pound of cocaine and one pound of crystal methamphetamine...

RCMP Constable Lesley Smith says officers stopped to check the vehicle in the parking lot of a store on Highway 16-East at approximately 9:40pm last night.  Constable Smith says members spoke to the two occupants in the vehicle and, as a result of their interaction, both males were arrested.

The value of the drugs seized is estimated at $29-thousand dollars.  A 44-year-old man from Prince George and a 19-year-old man from Surrey were arrested without incident and are facing drug-related charges.

Constable Smith says, "When investigating a drug trafficking offence, it is not uncommmon for police to find a vehicle occupied by individuals from other cities."  She says, "It was evident in this case that the drugs were being transported to either the Prince George-area or bound to another destination."

She says this bust has prevented a substantial amount of drugs from making its way onto the streets.

Way to go guys!! Every drug bust makes the gangs sweat a little more and a nice one like this must make them sweat quite a bit. Keep up the good work and congratulations!
Booze, cigarettes and gambling cause more harm than all the gangs in Canada put together. The police are trying to stop only a small percentage of the problem by targeting drugs. The largest problems are legal activities that the governments depend on for revenue; booze, cogarettes and gambling. All three of those account for almost 80% of our health care costs. Isn't it refreshing to know they are all legal and when the revenue isn't sufficient any more the government will lower the age to consume them ever lower than what we have today. Just because they are legal, doesn't mean it's not 'drug money'.
