Quesnel, B.C.– Residents of Quesnel will have the opportunity to let their views be known as the City of Quesnel conducts a citizen satisfaction survey.

Residents will be asked for their opinion on a wide variety of subjects, including quality of life, quality of services, and taxation.

Representatives from Discovery Research will conduct the telephone survey, with calls expected to begin on Monday November 15. The telephone survey is a statistically valid tool that will provide guidance to Quesnel City Council and staff.

“As we prepare for the budget cycle, Council wants to have a better understanding of our residents’ expectations of the City,” said Mayor Mary Sjostrom. “I encourage people to take the time to participate, as it will help Council develop budgets and our strategic plan.”

The results will be collected and presented during budget deliberations in early 2011.

The City will also conduct a separate electronic survey, containing the same questions, for business and industry representatives, as well as residents who were not included in the telephone survey. This will be done in late November via e-mail distribution and a link off the City’s website at www.city.quesnel.bc.ca

Just my Opinion - but Quesnel has their act together a lot more than our fair city. I doubt the residents will give a straight up glowing response (paying taxes rarely gets a positive nod) but in my travels, Quesnel is a 'CAN DO' city.

They attract business instead of creating obstacles for new business...something our city hall could take a lesson from.
This city has probably been surveyed to death, especially during the time of Alex Michalos with a variety of styles of surveys centered around what people in this community like and dislike.

I chose this one from 2004 (there was also an extensive one in 2007, I believe alongthe same lines)

I think it is interesting to see what people thought and whether some of the more common wants and needs have been accomplished.

I tend to agree with you that Quesnel has the appearance of a cna do city. I find that interesting since there have been some success as well as some failures.

1. A growing box stores highway commercial area to the south of the city right across from a dead Mall.

2. A narrow passageway through the city for through travellers, but with flowers lining the curbs.

3. A beautiful picture of mills heading right at you as you descend into the city coming from the North.

4. A desolate commercial strip from there until you get into the downtown area.

5. A controversial City Hall/library built into a failed health club building, or whatever that monstrosity is/was.

6. Residential taxes higher than PG

It is all in the way one looks at things.
