Prince George, B.C.- Something very out of the ordinary will take place at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. this afternoon.
Brent Marshall, the General Manager of the Northland Chrysler/Jeep dealership in Prince George, will be honoured for his dealership’s and his personal contributions to the paediatric wing at UHNBC.
The paediatric wing will be named in his honour.
This is a very unusual occurrence, one which has caught Marshall off guard. “I have been told this is the first such naming within Northern Health, and I really didn’t expect it” says Marshall.
With two children of their own, the Marshall’s have been solid supporters of the paediatric unit. His dealership has donated $1.1 million dollars over the past 5 years, and he and wife Kali have personally donated about $80 thousand. “We sold a piece of land, and donated the proceeds to the outside play area of the paediatric ward.”
Provincial Minister of Health Kevin Falcon, Minister of Forests, Mines and Lands Pat Bell, and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Shirley Bond will be on hand for the official naming of the wing.
Marshall is just 37, and his hard word and community commitment are showing through in other areas as well. He was informed recently that his dealership has been nominated by the Canadian Automobile Dealership Association as dealership of the year, an honour that is usually given to someone far senior in age and dealership experience. “They ( the CADA) told me I am the youngest to ever be nominated for this award, it’s just amazing.”
