Vanderhoof Wins Nine Man Provincial Football

 Vanderhoof - Vanderhoof Vikings, have again won the BCCFA 9 Man Football Provincial Championship.
 
Vanderhoof, winners of the 2010 Northern Zone, took on the Salmon Arm Chargers, winners of the 2010 Interior Zone, at Thompson River University in Kamloops Saturday night.  It was a tight game between two strong teams.
 
Salmon Arm took first points with a running touchdown in the first quarter bringing the score to 6-0 Chargers.
 
Vanderhoof re-took the lead 8-6 in the 2nd Quarter with a touchdown pass from Connor Nielsen to Scot Wallace, and a conversion pass from Connor Nielsen to Dillon Siemens.
 
Salmon Arm ran in another touchdown before the end of the first half, closing out the half at 13-8 Chargers.
 
Tristian Martens recovered a fumble during the 4th Quarter, running in an 85 yard touchdown, with Scot Wallace running in the conversion, bringing the score to 16-13 Vanderhoof.
 
With 34 seconds remaining in the game,  TJ van Damme sealed the win with an interception and touchdown run with Vanderhoof Vikings winning the game 22-13.
 
The Vikings MVP award went to TJ van Damme for his outstanding contribution to the game.
 
This is the 2nd annual BC Community Football 9-Man Provincial Championships.  The bantam Vanderhoof Vikings also won the 2009 inaugural event last year in Kamloops beating Kelowna for the title.
