Prince George, B.C.- Minister of Forests, Mines and Lands, Pat Bell, says he isn’t thinking about his political future at the moment, “The day I think perhaps someone else can step in and carry a more important role than the one I am carrying at any point in time, I would be happy to go back to the private sector. I only want to be in Victoria if I have something to add, something to help support our forest industry or mining industry in Prince George.”
Bell says he is interested in seeing how the platforms develop for those who are expected to run for the Party Leadership. The four expected to be in the running are Rich Coleman, Kevin Flacon , George Abbott and Mike deJong and there is a possibility Blair Lekstrom may join the race. “I think all of those folks we could do well under. What I’m really keen and interested in seeing is how their platforms will develop, particularly around an economic focus, that’s where my mind has always been.”
Bell says he thinks it will be exciting to go through a leadership race “I’ve never had this experience, I was not involved in politics when Gord was originally elected as the leader of the B.C. Liberal party.”
