Prince George, B.C. – The Coast Inn of the North hotel’s annual tree light up event will be a little different this year.
The big tree has been in place on the roof of the Coast Inn of the North Hotel since last week, but the cold wind and deep freeze temperatures have prevented the stringing of lights on that tree. Event organizer Wendy Copeland says instead of lighting up the roof top tree today, the trees inside the Hotel will be part of the light up event set to start at 4:30 this afternoon.
The Coast Hotel event will feature sweets and hot chocolate, three different choirs to share Christmas carols, and then a special event aimed at raising money for the future Olympian Athlete the hotel sponsors.
16 year old Sarah Beaudry is a biathlete from Duchess Park School. The Coast is committed to raising $10 thousand dollars to help Sarah get the equipment she needs to develop her skills.
As a fund raiser, the Coast has been selling mini-trees for $20 dollars each. While each decorated 18” tree comes complete with an envelope that packs a surprise,  four of the trees have extra special treats in those envelopes.

Yes, let's light up that CHRISTmas tree so everyone can have a Merry CHRISTmas.
This event is the kick off to the Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign. The tree on the rooftop of the Coast Inn of the North is donated by Warmac Industries, Sterling Crane makes sure it gets to the roof and the Coast Inn of the North decorates sets up the tree. This event raises money for the Salvation Army. Anyone can donate by buying a light bulb at the hotel for $5.00 or stopping by one of the Integris Credit Unions and donating there. This is a wonderful event and is one of the most important of the year for the Salvation Army. The River, 101.3, will be on location tonight. Please stop by the hotel between 430p and 6p tonight, EVERYONE is invited, to celebrate and sing and welcome the holidays in. The River will be on location as well tonight.
