A First Nations acquaintance of mine once told me that "White people have the Mafia and Indians have chiefs and band councils". I couldn't make that up myself. Quite describing.
One also told me as well they have an "inner circle" and an "outer circle."

The eagle here represents and outer circle.
Hmmmmm.... close, but your spelling is just a tiny bit off ... :-)

I'm not surprised.
Chiefs and indians. Much like high paid city employees and the taxpayers.
My issue is why they are protected from identifying who they are and how much they receive? Everyone else is expected to disclose how much they earn. Why not these folks? Double standards again for special interest groups. I say expose the truth and declare your income. They are on the Federal payroll like everyone else.
Are we being politically correct?

Not at all
A native friend recently told me that on his reserve,if you buck the band council, you will regret it.
He said all of a sudden they don't know you anymore when you need help.
As an example,he said some people can't pay their rent at times, and in many cases,it is ignored for the most part.
Unfortunately,if you are not kissing up to the chief and council or are questioning what they do,they can make your life hell if you do get behind.
The end result is that people simply keep their mouths shut and their heads down and don't complain.
I have known him for a long time and he is a straight up dude,so I can only assume he knows what he is talking about.
Obviously naitive poltics are not much different than ours!
