Prince George, B.C.- It is official, George Abbott has entered the race for the  leadership of the  Liberal Party in B.C.  He tendered his resignation  from the post of  Minister of Education  this morning.

Abbott says  he would like to see the referendum on the HST  moved up to possibly June, and would work with Elections B.C. and  all interested parties to see  if that would be possible.  he also says he would like to see some consultation and a review on the minimum wage in B.C.  Right now, this province has the lowes minimum wage in the country.

He has told Gloabal Television he  doesn't anticipate  pushing to have a provincial election  moved up  from the  May 2013  date, as the new leader of the Liberals will need the time to  "rebuild the trust" with  British Columbians.  He says  he believes he is the person who can   re-connect with  the people of the Province.

Abbott  and Moira Stilwell are the only two officially declared candidates for the Liberal leadership, although there are several others  standing in the wings.

You can   expect Health Minister Kevin Falcon to make an  announcement soon.  Opinion 250 has learned he plans to make his announcement in Prince George  either this Sunday, or Tuesday of next week

Uhhhh..... Nope !

V.
I heard Abbott on CBC radio tonight.
He sounds like a decent guy.
I mean.....I'm not a liberal and I'm certainly not an NDP'er, but compared to Carol James I think this guy is a 9 and poor Carol is a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10.
Not a chance, bobblehead.
Just what we need...a "bobblehead" for a Premier!
Funny thing Oldun, I didn't even see your comment. What does that tell ya? LMAO!
Where's Costello???
In that CBC interview Abbott said that he supports the HST as government needs the revenue.
Isn't the HST supposed to be "revenue neutral" to government?
Couldn't help but notice MLA John Rustad standing with George Abbott when he was making/reading his smarmy campain speech.
I wonder if it ever occured to these over-paid and under worked politicians to get off their arses and ask the people in their home riding who it is they support?
So will Rustad now be out there campaining for George Abbott as the new leader?
