Boone To Stay On As School Board Trustee

Prince George, B.C. - The newly acclaimed NDP candidate in the Prince George-Peace River riding says she has no plans to step down from School District 57's Board of Trustees.
Lois Boone is vice-chair of the board and, while she announced at last Tuesday's regular monthly meeting that she won't seek re-election next year, she said at the kick-off to her federal campaign yesterday that she has no plans to resign yet.
"I keep my job as a trustee until such time as the election comes and if I'm elected, then I resign my seat," she said. "If I'm not elected, then I just continue on as a trustee."
Boone says there's no way, at this point in time, the outcome of the federal by-election could lead to the need for a by-election to fill her spot on the school board. She says the Prime Minister must call a by-election to replace Jay Hill in Prince George-Peace River by April, but once into the new year, any vacancy on school board can remain open until the fall municipal elections.
