Man Formally Charged in Weekend Murder

20 year old Cody Alan Legebokoff, from Prince George appeared before a Justice of the Peace teleconference this morning in Vanderhoof and was charged with one count of First Degree Murder in connection with the death of 15 year old Loren Donn Leslie from Fraser Lake. Legebokoff has been remanded in-custody without bail and his next court appearance will take place by December 1, 2010.
The family of Loren Donn Leslie has requested privacy while they deal with this tragic situation. Victim Services continue to work with all impacted parties.
The investigation was launched Saturday night (November 27, 2010) after the check of a suspicious vehicle north of Vanderhoof. Subsequent inquiries lead to the discovery of the deceased teen approximately 22 km north of Vanderhoof. Investigators from North District Major Crime and Vanderhoof RCMP remain at the site and the area is cordoned off while a thorough scene examination is completed by members and forensic specialists. In order to preserve the area and possible evidence at the site, a no-fly restriction of 2000 feet has been requested for a 2 mile radius around the scene. An autopsy of the victim will be conducted on Wednesday in Kamloops.
Investigators expect to remain on scene until after the completion of the autopsy. Police would like to stress that this is an active investigation, and they are working to answers the many questions the victims’ family and public will have about this file. Major Crime investigators are aware of other investigation being conducted in North District and surrounding areas and continue to liaise with those teams and investigators throughout the course of this active and on-going investigation.
