Looks pretty nice to me. Wish PG would do a little more. I think Quesnel does just about as much and they only have about 10,000 people vs our 75,000.
Hopefully, that will change.

That is a great idea! Looks very cool.

We used to have a bridge exactly like the one in Quesnel.
Kinsley and his buddies tore it down and replaced it with a chunk of concrete.
A recent inspection of the timbers in the Quesnel bridge showed them to be as good as they were 75 years ago.
The BS spread around Prince George was that the timbers in the Cameron St. Bridge, were rotten. Naturally most people bought the story. Strange that these rotten timbers ended up at a Ritchie Bros Auction.

The colors are ugly.
Btw, Quesnel has not 10.000 people, they got 25.000.

And 35.000 in the trading area.

Hey HD,
I lived in Quesnel for 20 years. Check the city's website.
And Palopu the foot bridge in Quesnel with the lights are not being used by cars and trucks to cross. So yes, getting rid of the old Cameron Street bridge was a good idea.
I take the new bridge just about every day and it's a very nice bridge. They could add some nice lights to the new one and ours would look great too.

The new bridge at Cameron st. was needed and is a welcome addition. A one lane bridge was well... past it's prime.
Didn't know we needed to decorate the bridges for Christmas but all in all it looks nice.

Hey there HD, go see a proctologist about getting that bug up your ass removed. It has a really effect on your outlook (can't use the appropriate word here on a family site) I like what the folks in Quesnel have done with the lights. Looks nice to me. They do a nice job with their flowers in the summer too. Small town with BIG pride. What is not to admire

Meant to say negative effect :-)

Hey PG council have a look at Quesnel downtown and see what they have done. Cheaper than all the consultants you folks have hired. Hey HD I agree with Vikingnuck's comment.

The lights are ugly.
The wrong colors have been used.
My buddy in Q. told me the old lights were wrecked by drunks. The same is going to happen with these lights.
I heard they spend 2 million on that bridge.

Not to be outdone----PG spends half a million on a 60 foot walkway to nowhere.

Living in Quesnel and knowing what a high crime area that bridge is at night I am disappointed that so much money was spent on lights focusing on the river and not on the bridge itself. It's unfortunate that we spend so much money on beauty here and not enough on brightening high crime areas. A more functional bright lighting option should have been placed on the bridge. It looks nice but looks aren't everything.

They told me there is a phone on the bridge in case you see somebody involved in drug dealing.
That's smart! We should have phones on every street in PG.

Its because of spending on the New Cameron St., Bridge ($10 Million or more City portion) River Roads upgrade ($3 Million or more City Portion) Community Energy System ($6 Million or more City Portion) New Police Station ( $36 Million City Portion) Winter Games ($15 Million or more City portion) Boundry Road Cut-off ($8 Million or more City portion)
According to the City and some people on these posts all these things are needed. Fact of the matter is they are not. Anyone with half a brain and a butt could wait 2 Minutes for a light on the Cameron St., Bridge and save us $10 Million dollars. etc; etc; etc;.
The Bridge is nice and convenient, however thats not a good enough reason for spending huge dollars. For the amount of people who use this bridge the expense is huge.
In any event it is this type of spending and borrowing that keeps the City broke, and makes it almost impossible for them to provide the basic services, such as roads, garbage, snow removal etc; without continually raising our taxes and service fees.. For those who are in favour of these expednitures, dont complain about services, or taxes, because you cant have it both ways.
Debt servicing for the City of Prince George by 2019 will exceed $30 Million per year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

newtechguy: I guess you don't remember when the Cameron street bridge was two lanes. Seems like a lot of people weren't here then or a lot of people don't remember. A car or pickup could meet a truck on it but two trucks couldn't pass. There's a lot of mirror glass in the river there from people who weren't careful enough or didn't know their vehicle's tolerances. It used to be our only bridge across the Nechako.

Also, the Bridge in Quesnel is significantly longer than the old Cameron Street bridge. It was also recently refurbished for $1 million or so. The PG one was estimated at $3/4 million.
And yes, the city's population is nowhere near 25,000.
We could light up the something here that is visible from a distance instead of the hill which is not visible and costs money to view.
Try the cutbanks, but could cost some money for the energy ..... get Canfor to donate the energy through their cogen system ....
