Falcon Launch- The Sequel

Prince George, B.C. – Kevin Falcon re-announced his Liberal Party leadership bid in Prince George this evening.

Introduced by not one, but 6 different people, Falcon was noted for being the first leadership contender to ever launch a campaign in Prince George. That statement by long time friend of Falcon’s, Dan McLaren, neglected to mention Falcon had already launched the campaign earlier today in his own home riding of Surrey Cloverdale, so the event in P.G. wasn’t really the launch of a campaign it was more of a sequel.

There were about 100 people in attendance, including nearly  a full contingent of the Downtown Business Improvement Association ( with the exception of the President) and the full contingent from the Commonwealth Group of holdings headed by McLaren.

While Falcon had several  MLA’s at his side at this morning’s official launch, there was no sign of local MLA’s and Cabinet ministers, Pat Bell and Shirley Bond, or John Rustad at this evening's  event at the Coast Inn of the North.

Falcon was on the verge of making a faux pas in centering out former Mayor Colin Kinsley (who was one of the 6 official Falcon introducers) as someone special who is now putting his name forward to run for Federal Politics. Falcon quickly re-grouped  to include Cameron Stolz who is also running for that Prince George –Peace River Conservative nomination.

The speech was pretty much the same as the one delivered earlier in the day, all about listening, learning and leading. A promise to push up the date for a vote on the HST although he said he believed the tax is good for the north.

He did make a couple of promises,

1.       Tthat he would move forward quickly with the wood innovation and design centre, and

2.       He would move forward to have an engineering program in the north that would be set up similar to the northern medical program.

Too bad all these potential leaders coming out of the woodwork didn't speak up when it counted. We have the HST and a useless carbon tax forced upon us by a bully, and not one of these mla's thought to stand up for their constituents.
Re-announced? What, are we that shallow in the North to think that this is meaningful and he really give a rats patootie? Does the saying "Like kissing your sister" apply better anywhere else than here? Naw, I didn't think so. To quote the great rock band The Who "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
This is all so neat.
Neat? Like groovy or like clean ? It all stinks to me
Quoted from the article:
"He did make a couple of promises,
1. Tthat he would move forward quickly with the wood innovation and design centre"

So is he hoping that will not be announced before he is leader? Or, does he know it will not be announced before he is leader?

We must remember that a budget will be introduced before the leadership convention and the wood innovation centre has been on the table for 2 or even 3 years.

Is Campbell going to have his thunder stolen with what appears to be a pet project for the north?
Blah, blah, blah, blah.Whats that smell, the liberals is what it is same pile and smells gitt'n worse,WHEW!lets see now alomst 10yrs of these BUMS and what we got to show a NEW Bridge,heheheh,6-8 bucks really suck the life out of ppl ya no.
Child povertythe highest in Canada, rite here folks in BC thank the Libturds.
This old boy told me long time ago,he said son ya know no matter how hard you try to polish a turd ,a turds a turd!my 13 cents worth...
I wouldn't let Falcon lead a boy scout troop!
Dan Mclaren does add a certain odor.
However, he did NOT promise that if he was selected as Liberal leader and Premier of the province by the Liberal Party that he would call a general election within a few months in order to get a mandate from the voters to govern. Now, why not?
I agree completely ammonra!
If this sorry excuse for a provincial government had any family jewels, they would call an election and settle this.
That's not going to happen and we know that.
Amazing how hard they will fight to stay in power and the lengths they will go to.
And we are supposed to believe they do this for the good of the people of B.C.?
Life must be very sweet at the deep end of the public trough!
Any friend of Dan McLaren is not a friend of mine, nor should be of yours.
One would wonder where we would be if the NDP had been in power these last few years.
Falcon and McLaren long time friends!

Hmmm, makes me wonder. You?

slim67, we will never know will we? However we do know that the BS history of the NDP in this province pales in comparison to the Liberal BS history in this province.
"One would wonder where we would be if the NDP had been in power these last few years."

Judging from the comparison of the economic performance for the 10 years each was the government, probably in much the same place. The NDP had slightly better economic growth, but was slightly lower in other areas.

I bet there would be some differences,, though. BC Rail would still be ours for a start. The minimum wage would be higher. BC Hydro would still be intact instead of fragmented. Hydro would be generated by BC Hydro and owned by the voters, not owned by private companies and sold to BC Hydro at grossly inflated and economically unjustifiable rates just because they are buddies of someone in government. We would not have the highest child poverty rates in Canada. And so on, and so on, and so on. There are lots of differences and I'm sure you know them all.
Here's what we wouldn't have with an NDP government for the last decade. a AAA credit rating, we would still be a have not province, we would still have one of the highest marginal tax rates in North America at 54%, we would have no major head offices and the jobs that came with them left, small businesses would have continued to head east. We would have the highest paid public servants in the country. We would have millions of acres of dead pine as the NDP let nature take its course. We would not have a cancer center in PG. We would not train doctors here, We would have had many more rallys at the multiplex over the pathetic state of Northern healthcare. We would not have had the airport runway expansion and its potential. Our schools would have 20 pro D days a year. etc, etc.......

The 90's were not bc's finest hour. The liberals have plenty of warts, but don't put lipstick on the NDP pig, there are to many voters with a brain and memories.
