Carole James Leading The Media Frenzy

By Ben Meisner

Monday, December 06, 2010 03:45 AM

Suddenly the Liberal Leadership race has been placed on the back burner as the focus moves over to Carole James, leader of the NDP.

Cooler heads must have prevailed on the weekend when the Caucus meeting was postponed for the NDP group that has been seriously fractured by the recent events.

Can Carole James survive  the knives?  Not likely.  The group within the caucus that has been trying to have her ousted, is not going away and the best James can hope for is a leadership convention at which she throws her name into the race. Of course,  she could always  say "I have had enough and I am leaving now."

Even the not so closely guarded secret that Christy Clark will announce this Wednesday that she is running for the Liberal  top spot , is back burner stuff.

As a side note, it is humourous to watch how the “old" party faithful are throwing their two bits into the mix.

Corky Evans and Paul Ramsey, both of whom wouldn’t dare take a run at the political game once again knowing what awaits them at the polls.

In this region, Bruce Strachan suddenly feels that he is a power plug in Kevin Falcon’s race.

These people wouldn’t stand a hope in hell in an election, but seem to feel they are so a part of the province, that whatever comes from their  mouth is the gospel others must follow.

At least in Lois Boone’s case she is putting her money where her mouth is , she stands to get a real trouncing in the Federal by election , but at least she is leading with her chin.

I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

Bang on Ben...with a couple of exceptions. Corky Evans...he won't run,but if he did,he would cut a pretty wide swath.
Christy Clark is highly overrated and too centralized on the lower mainland.
Whether or not either could actually win an election, remains to be seen, but I think Evans would be the strongest runner.
Big difference between running for party leader and actually winning an election.

The NDP wouldn't want to take a chance on Corky Evans leading them. He's just a little too close to the truth in what's really wrong with BC politics, and politics in general. And on top of that, he actually "thinks". Outside the box of the orthodox. The 'money men' don't like that. Threatens their ability to control whoever the new talking head at the top is going to be.
Christy Clark, another bimbo in limbo. Like Kim Campbell after Brian Mulroney, she'd be the perfect choice to lead her Party. Straight to oblivion.
Andy, you're so right. Corky Evans could become the next premier easily, it's unfortunate he won't be there.
I think socredible is probably right.
The NDP and the money men don't want free thinkers, and they would see Corky Evans as a threat to the control factor they love so much.
He would say what he thinks, and that's just not allowed in the party system.
Actually,they don't want thinkers, period!
The most dangerous people in B.C.politics are those who stand in the shadows and are seldom seen.
We should never make the assumption that it is the party leader calling all the shots.
Party leaders also do what they are told.
That is particularly true with the likes of the Campbell Liberals.
Campbell himself is a corporate puppet, and that will become very clear when he returns to the private sector.
Watch where he ends up.
Oh,and the suprising part was the letter from Paul ramsey!
Ex-politicians have egos so big, they need a semi to haul them around!
What possible rellevance could Paul Ramsey have to anything, and why would anyone in the NDP care what he has to say?
At least Corky Evens has some credibility!
