Strange Twist to Armed Robbery
By 250 News
Prince George, B.C. - Prince George RCMP are releasing early details about the armed robbery of a service station in the city mid-morning, that has taken a strange twist...
Officers received two calls in succession this morning: the first came in at 10:16, reporting a suspicious person wearing a belaclava in the area of 5th Avenue and Carney Street at 10:16am. Then, two minutes later, a report of an armed robbery came in from the Shell Gas Station at 490 Carney Street.
Officers surrounded the area and, within minutes, had arrested a 31-year-old man who was trying to flee the area in a vehicle. A knife was seized by investigators.
This is where the twist comes in: RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass says officers discovered a two-year-old child, unharmed, and a dog in the backseat of the vehicle. Officers checked the vehicle's registration determined it was registered to a clerk working at the Shell station at the time of the robbery.
Corporal Douglass says the female clerk has also been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
He points out the investigation is still in the early stages and says further updates will be provided.
