Prince George- Police have busted what they say is another major grow-op on the region.

Last Thursday, members of the RCMP's Cariboo Region Integrated Marihuana Enforcement (C.R.I.M.E.) Task Force, North District Drug Section and Prince George Detachment executed a search warrant on Horrocks Road south of Prince George, BC.

Upon execution of the search warrant, a large indoor sophisticated marihuana grow operation was found on the property.  The operation consisted of three separate marihuana growing rooms with marihuana plants in various stages of maturity.

2298 marihuana plants were seized.  In addition, approximately $4000.00 in cash and equipment used to run the operation were seized.  It was also determined that the grow operation was being run with the use of a stolen overhead electrical transformer and there was a theft of BC Hydro taking place.

One adult male who provided an address from the lower mainland of BC, was arrested at the residence.  Charges of Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Theft of Telecommunication Service under the Criminal Code, will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada for charge approval.

What a surprise, and in tomorrow's news another marijuana grow up busted!

Stiffer penalties, legalization, persecution, deportation..... anything different then detect and slap on the wrist.

Getting tired of the grow up news, already having a numbing effect of no big deal.
It is interesting that most if not all the busts involved "lower mainland" connected operators.

What are the odds that few locals get busted?
Problem with most of our locals, they've only been local since they moved here from the lower mainland. Sure, there are some locals recruited but most came up here from the lower mainland. Even idiot Arrance. Maybe he can return by way of club Fed.
Legalize the stuff and get on with it!

.....four issues solved just like that.....marijuana legalized .... a new provincial gov't......wouldn't need the HST with the new found revenue .....and the gangs have nothing more to fight about (well - - less to fight about) !
"Don't bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me" Ladeeda, Laadeeda LaaDeeduh........
oh isn't that Acronym so cute.

Well, what is going to happen to them, My suggestion is, that if they were not born in Canada and immigrated here. Strip them of their citizenship send them back to where they came from. Make an example out of them.
Only people who pretend not to smoke marijuana, spell it marihuana. Your cover is blown, the jig is up. Spell it properly, for goodness sakes.
"Legalize the stuff and get on with it"

The ONLY way that legalization would work is IF it were legalized in the markets it is being shipped to (i.e. the United States). Legalizing it in Canada wouldn't do a darn thing, nor would it really impact the large scale grow ops we have here, because their primary reason for existence is to supply the US market and/or for the product to be used as a swap for guns or harder drugs.

So even if it were legalized in Canada, you would still have a two supplier situation where one supply would be heavily regulated and produced solely for domestic consumption (relatively small percentage in the grand scheme of things) and a completely illicit supply still being smuggled into the US and controlled by organized crime.

As a method of trying to reduce the organized crime aspect, legalization in Canada wouldn't accomplish a thing. The only thing it would do is make the smoking of pot a less serious offence, which for the most part, it already is here in Canada. Of course, this all goes out the window if the US decided to legalize it, but let's be honest, that isn't hapenning anytime soon. Heck, California recently voted no to legalization, they are one of the more liberal states out there and they are DEAD BROKE and would've benefitted significantly from the ability to tax it. If they voted no, how the heck do you think the rest of the country would?

The reality is that we're stuck with the problem regardless of what we do internally in Canada. I say if we can establish that the plants in these grow-ops were destined for the US, let's extradite all of the people caught to face charges in the US for drug smuggling. At least that might get their attention . . .
Thanks for saving me the typing NMG - I have said the exact same thing repeatedly. Legalizing it in BC or even Canada will do NOTHING to stop the gangs and large operations.
looks like money does grown on trees! lol! good job cops! another bites the dust!
NMG is right, but if we were to legalize it, it might help to move the US toward legalization. There'd be one less prop for their ridiculous policy.

Two additional reasons for legalization: (a) the ability to treat drug problems as the medical/social problems that they are; (b) elimination of a major source of violation of civil liberties and excessive violence on the part of the police (a larger problem in the US than here, but still a problem here).
I get such a chuckle out of these pot smokers. They honestly believe that if they are driving and impaired by pot, that's okay.
It's okay to smoke pot, but don't you dare blow cigarette smoke in my face, that's very harmful, you know.
Bunch of Hypocrites.
Until it is legalized, go ahead, buy your dope off the local gang dope dealers. Tell all your friends who your dealer is, perhaps you'll get a discount sending more business their way. Just know you're part of the problem, so don't get up on your high horse after someone you know gets killed by a gang.
Don't you folks read the news? It is more legal in the States than it is here! Just last night on TV was a program about Colorado now selling seeds etc. same as California. The feds down there are still doing some arresting, but the states are going to legalize it themselves--watch close cops because you can't stop this. No one can stop this -- that's why Canada didn't get involved with prohibition regarding booze. Now we have politicians who want to control us and they will train more and more cops until we are totally policed. Then it will be legal and they will tax it heavily. It is the next great cash grab.
Go to the map on page 12 to see how small the amount of cannibis seizure is in Canada versus the USA and Mexico, and even other some other countries

Police in the USA and Mexico have a much greater craving for the stuff than police in Canada. :-)
Canada has a high use of cannabis, but lower use of hard drugs ......

Cut supply of drug of choice and we might start to switch ......
I thought the recreational pot users all get their stuff from Uncle Joe and Aunt Suzie who only had 10-15 plants growing in the back yard? Even if that weren't true, I'm sure there will always be an adequate supply for the recreational pot smokers who really need their fix. Our market is far too small to have to worry about that.
Slim2229 says..."They honestly believe that if they are driving and impaired by pot, that's okay."

Is that a fact slim? Just so happens I believe you're full of it. In fact I bet you have brown eyes. I know many people who smoke and they think no such thing. The only people that think this are crackheads. You a crackhead slim?

You sure have a bad attitude slim, better go have a beer and cool off. Beers ok slim, alcohol isn't a drug like pot.

You're living in a dream world pal!
I got an alibi. I don't even know where the hell Horrocks Rd. South is. So there!
So how many people were charged? Now the streets are much safer. Just legalize it already, it isn't going to change too much, it will just make things easier for the everyday pot smoker. Besides I pretty much guarentee that's the favorite liesure activity for Mayor Dan.lol. Speaking of which, has any body seen or heard from him lately? Somebody should go by his house and make sure he's alright. He's probably a little stressed having to come up with some answers and reasons why those reports were inaccurate of him and his team spending too much money.
OOOOhh, looks like Slim musta hit a nerve with Dragonmaster. A lttle touchy on that one are we???
Well.....that was fun!
