In last Tuesday's Prince George Citizen there was a copy of the "Alternative Approval Process Electoral Response Form" for the new RCMP building, along with what looked to me a bit of a sales pitch to oppose the borrowing of money by the City of Prince George to construct a new RCMP building.

Does anyone know if this was a paid advertisement or an article/editorial by the Prince George Citizen, and if it was a paid advertisement does anyone know where one can send money to help out the cause?

Thumbs down to Mr. G at Peden Hill. A friend of mine sliced open his finger while using the air hose and went in and asked for a band aid and was offered to purchase a box of band aids but was refused 1 band aid from their first aid station. I think that's just low.

Thumbs up to PWB for their new sign. I thought it was gone forever. And now a new LED sign. To last forever. Thanks to the car wash on Vic. St. for turning down the light on their sign at night.

Employers have the right to know alot about their employees and thier on the job conduct. Any every civil servant at any level works for every single taxpayer. That cushy job and big pension should have costs.

We demand information be readily avaiable for all public servants at all levels. And dont give me freedom of information crap. I dont have time to fill out 100 forms to get a blacked out word jumble. It should not be that difficult.

Unless you are releasing documents that infringe on the ability of Canada and our allies to maintain national security you are doing the right thing, regardless of what some ineffective legal system says.

I know people like to think it is true, however, civil servants do not work for taxpayers. They work for the governments and various organizations that employ them. These institutions may be funded by taxpayers, however, I don't see the link with how that gives a taxpayer the right to access personal information about those employees.

If I buy gas from Esso or plastic wrap from Canadian Tire, does that give me the right to access the personal information of their employees?

What would you do with that information?
What would the next guy do with that information? Do you as an individual get to decide what information should be public? How about that chip truck that crashed on Peden Hill yesterday? 150 thousand lbs of truck flying down a hill has more potential for disaster than an administative assistant sitting in city hall. Should the driver's private life be open to everyone on demand? Or should we let the officials investigate the cause first. Those privacy laws and "blacked out word jumbles" are there to protect everyone's right to privacy. Information is (legally)released after the set criteria is met. I'm sure you would like your privacy protected if a bad situation involved you but was out of your control. Should civil servants "at all levels" have to wave these rights just because their pay comes from tax money?

A few days ago someone here claimed that Wikileaks is a Mossad operation and when challenged to support this offered the argument that: (a) Israel comes off looking good in the leaks of US diplomatic cables; (b) Wikileaks leader Julian Assange is a Jew. In other words, he has no evidence for Mossad involvement.

The fact that Israel comes off looking good requires no explanation other than that, when the facts are known, Israel is discovered to behave quite well. This is disconcerting to Israel-haters, but hardly surprising.

The closest connection to Israel is the "fact" that Julian Assange is Jewish. As far as I can tell, this is false. I have found NO source, reputable or even not so reputable, that indicates that he is Jewish. The only suggestion that he is Jewish that I have found was on a Neo-Nazi site, and even they indicated that they had only heard a rumour and did not know if it is true.

Incidentally, one of the major fans of the cable leak is Venezula's Hugo Chavez, a virulent anti-Semite, surely no lover of Mossad activities.

Well if it is okay to talk about the personal lives of people who work at city hall, then it should equally be okay for Councillor Skakun to come clean with his personal life as well. How about, why did he break up with Councillor Debora Munoz, has he ever slashed tires and why, who is he living with now and are they married, how much does Brian make in salary and has he ever missed payments.

Does anybody know the gentleman that works out of the old Takla Development building on 6th behind RBC? He stands on the sidewalk and smokes all the time and I watched him throw his cigarette butt on the street. As I walked to the bank I noticed that there are literally hundreds of butts all piled right where he stands - or should I just shovel them up and toss them in his front door?

Get Mayor Dan to do a study on it.

In Vernon we had a neighbour who would do the same thing. He'd smoke out by the curb and toss his butts on the street. There was literally DOZENS of butts there. Would have been hundreds but he lives on a hill and when it rained they would wash further down the road into the storm drain.

I called the City of Vernon bylaw offices to report excessive littering.

Haven't seen any butts there since!

So he has a political agenda in his own words. We know this for fact. This political agenda is pro Israel. Haaretz an Israeli paper wouldn't make this stuff up now would it?

We also know that these leaks are not top secret documents of the national security type, but rather eavesdropping of the diplomatic channel type of 'classified' conversations (to make them more juicy). Millions of civil servants had access to these kinds of documents and millions could just as easily make their comments in the 'official' record. Its about shaping perceptions... the perceptions needed to justify wars and international policy.

We also know Netanyahu paid Julian Assange to not reveal anything 'embarrassing' to Israel and even went so far to brag about this.

The only thing left to wonder about is how many of these 'leaks' were actually written by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to be acted out by the respective actors?

For example... Arab stats talking of Iran being an existential threat to them? Only one State talks in terms of existential threats, and this is Israel. A Freudian slip perhaps?

Charles. The full paid add in the local paper, along with the Petition was bought and paid for by a local business man. The fact that he didnt show the name of his business indicates that he would like to remain anonymous. I am not aware of any place that you could donate money, however wha ever you can do, to get signatures would be good.

I hope that a lot of people clipped out the petition and delivered it to City Hall or mailed it, as this was a huge expense to make it easier for us taxpayers to get a vote on this building.

Insofar as the Keg goes, I have heard that they were having some difficulties with permitting etc;. Apparently they need to put in underground wiring etc;, This is a huge additional cost, and from what I can understand it wont be done until next April.

About the Keg. This might be rumor but I doubt it.
The ownwer was told by the city inspector that he was good to go and could start work without the permit because he would OK it that very day and it would be issued without any problems. He lied. The city withheld the permit because they want him to replace the sidewalks and the lighting on that street as well. I believe he is refusing to do that and I don't blame him ata ll. A homebuilder I know has been told he has to do the same, as well as update the gasline to the new code along the sidewalk. I would think that is the job of the city and Terasen; what do I know?
