Prince George, B.C. - A new sledding season has begun but the experts are reminding snowmobilers that B.C.'s backcountry can be a dangerous place for riders who don't follow the rules.

Some snowmobilers are using Forest Service roads and putting themselves, their passengers and logging truck drivers at risk. Sledders, by law, must not ride on plowed Forest Service roads.

Ministry of Natural Resource Operations compliance officers, plus the RCMP, are out in full force monitoring many of B.C.'s Forest Service roads. Sledders found in non-compliance and illegally using Forest Service roads will be fined.

Sledders must be aware of their surroundings, and follow and obey trail signage to ensure their safety and that of others. All off-road vehicles using Crown land must wear helmets and use lights at night.

Age-appropriate safety measures and adult supervision are also required for young riders.

Just stay home.
What, and enjoy life from your couch like you ac?
Might as well Dragonmaster as there's always some form of cop out to bust you nowadays for snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, boating, quading, camping, swimming you name it.
acrider54 and Dragonmaster - If people would respect each other and nature at the same time we wouldn't need all the COP's out there - But I'm sure if you or one of your family were hurt by the well meaning individuals of our society you would be the first to be saying why weren't the COP's out there - stop picking on the easy targets - the cops - and focus on the problem of the individuals out there that are causing the problems for everyone.. Have you ever read some warning labels on any product produced and wonder why they put them there - its because individuals accept no responsiblity for there own actions - read the label on your next coffee - i bet it states its HOT -

Age appropriate safety measures and adult supervision are also required
