Teddy Toss Clean Up: Like Clockwork

Taylor Stefishen helps load teddies after assisting on the goal that sparked the toss
Prince George, B.C. - It was not a full house, but more than 5200 fans braved the cold to pack their teddies and toques into the stands of CN Centre for the Cougars' annual toss last night in their game against the Kamloops Blazers.
Taylor Stefishen and Cody Carlson assisted on Greg Fraser's goal at 7:59 of the first period to bring about the downpour that saw a sea of teddy bears litter the ice.
And, within moments, the clean up operation began...
And it was quite the operation: the players themselves began shoveling the bears into piles and they were joined by volunteers, which included members of the RCMP's Victim Services Unit and the Farr Fabricating Bantam Cougars team.
Meantime, CN Centre staff were busy directing trucks from Wood Wheaton onto the ice for pick-up...and then back off...through pedestrian traffic and close quarters.
The whole operation went like clockwork. And, after a final shovel of the ice, with the referees even helping out, the game was back on: with the Prince George Cougars holding on for a 3-2 win to head into the Christmas break in first place in the B.C. Division with 39-points, one up on the Kelowna Rockets.
Other local winners as a result of last night's game were the RCMP's Victim Services Unit, the Salvation Army, and other local organizations, who will be the recipients of the 'tossed' donations.
