Fernie, B.C.- There has been a second snowmobile rider death in B.C.
A 44 year old Elko man died yesterday afternoon off of highway 3 when the snowmobile he was on collided with a jump ramp used by off road cyclists in the summer months.
The man was wearing a helmet, but suffered fatal head injuries. He was with two other sledders, using a known trail at the end of Burton Lake Road.
The victim’s name has not been released. The Fernie RCMP and the Coroner’s Service are investigating.
This is the second snowmobiling death this week. On Boxing Day night at Eena Lake, northwest of Prince George, a 44 year old man died when the snowmobile he was riding crashed on an island. That crash is still under investigation.

Question, are deaths from other causes such as automobile crashes, falling down stairs, being hit by a bus etc not as news worthy as a snowmobiler being killed?
How come we don't rush out to print these other stories like we do when it has to do with a snowmobile?
What is it exactly that makes snowmobiler deaths so much more interesting or news worthy?
