Fernie, B.C.- There has been a second snowmobile rider death in B.C.

A 44 year old Elko man died yesterday  afternoon off of  highway 3 when the snowmobile he was on collided with a jump ramp used by off road cyclists in the summer months.

The man was  wearing a helmet, but suffered fatal head injuries.   He was with two other sledders, using a known trail at the end of Burton Lake Road.

The victim’s name has not been released.  The Fernie RCMP and  the Coroner’s Service are investigating.

This is the second snowmobiling death  this week.  On Boxing Day night at  Eena Lake, northwest of Prince George,  a 44 year old man died when the snowmobile he was  riding crashed on  an island.  That crash is still under investigation.

RIP dude!

Question, are deaths from other causes such as automobile crashes, falling down stairs, being hit by a bus etc not as news worthy as a snowmobiler being killed?

How come we don't rush out to print these other stories like we do when it has to do with a snowmobile?
What is it exactly that makes snowmobiler deaths so much more interesting or news worthy?
Drag, these deaths are reported in order to perhaps warn others to be more careful, I would think.

Is it working? No, not as long as one can observe snowmobiles racing down a residential street in P.G. at night and at twice the legal limit! What is that rider going to do if someone pulls out of a driveway or a side street not expecting to have such an encounter?

Crash and die.
People who do stupid things make the news
Ain't that the truth!!
Could it be the helmets are impairing their peripheral vision? I've always hated helmets for that.
Right, the jump ramp was moving so fast that by the time I saw it coming at me from the left, it was far too late.
Someone dies and you heros come here and make jokes?
A few will ruin things for others, like the couple of kids with pipes "high marking" through the ditchs on to peoples lawns and ripping them up, then down the road at twice the speed limit. Use some common sense and regard for others. I agree with PrinceGeorge. Taking a safety course is a good idea as well. See [url]http://www.bcsf.org/safety/[url]

I'll get it right yet

"high marking" through the ditchs"???????
Dragonmaster, do you know what sarcasm is? Highmarking through ditches is for the 120 cc machines and these guys are acting like they should be riding 120cc sleds
