Burns Lake, B.C. - Two Burns Lake women have died in a crash on Highway 16 near Crystal Road.

RCMP say the two were in a blue Pontiac sedan heading to Burns Lake from Prince George when their vehicle   spun into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with an east bound Ford pick up truck shortly after 6 p.m Tuesday evening.

The two women, in their 50’s, were killed in the crash, the four  occupants of the pick up truck suffered minor injuries.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Investigators say the road was icy and slippery at the time but it is not known if road conditions or speed were factors in the crash.

The investigation continues.

Names of the deceased have not been released.

Too many deaths on Highway 16...what is going on?
Bad drivers,bad road conditions...what?
...Did you not just read the story? The roads are icy. The blame has already been laid on mother nature.
K80... Did YOU not read the story?? The "blame" hasn't been laid on anything yet. it says... "it is not known if road conditions or speed were factors in the crash."
Hugs to all the family and friends!!
Funny how hundreds of vehicles can negotiate our streets and highways safely and then one vehicle loses control at a critical point. Its very sad for the families involved. It happens though.
