2010 Drier and Milder Than the Norm

Prince George, B.C. – When it comes to weather in 2010, Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele says it was the year of no snow.
According to Steele’s year in review, not only was snowfall in January, February and March, well below normal, the whole year was drier than usual.
Normally, Prince George will have 600.8 mm of precipitation (rain and snow)over the course of a year. In 2010, there was only 415.4 mm, that’s a full 185.4 mm below the normal mark.
The real shortfall was in snow, with just 78.4 cm of snow for all of 2010, compared to the normal 216.1cm that usually falls on the city.
As for temperature, in 2010 the mean temperature was up by 0.9 of a degree. On a month to month basis, January, February and March had mean temps that were all above the usual, with January’s mean temperature 4.1 degrees warmer, February’s mean temp was 3.3 degrees warmer and the mean temperature in March was 3.4 degrees above the usual.
The hottest day of the year was July 8th with a high temperature of 30.6. That was the exact opposite of the coldest day of the year which was on January 5th at minus 30.6 degrees.
