FORT ST. JOHN,B.C.- The BC Oil and Gas Commission has received confirmation that a sweet natural gas leak at an Apache Corporation wellsite has been stopped.

The leak was detected at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 at a wellsite in the Noel Field south of Dawson Creek, and stopped in the early hours of Jan. 2.

Apache implemented its Emergency Response Plan, followed emergency reporting procedures and secured the lease site. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

The cause of the leak is still under investigation. A full report on the incident is required, and the Commission will receive and review the report and provide regulatory oversight of the follow-up response.
