Prince George, B.C. – The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says confidence among the small and mid sized businesses in the province fell in December for the third straight month.

The dip put B.C. in the middle of the pack as the most optimistic province in Canada.

The BC barometer index fell to 67.5 from 68.1 in November and 70.0 in October.

The CFIB says factors contributing to the uncertainty B.C. include, the state of provincial politics, the HST referendum, and provincial regulatory changes such as the impaired driving rules and potential increase in the minimum wage.

With respect to employment plans in British Columbia, most employers surveyed said they do not plan to make changes to full-time employment levels (75 per cent), while 10 per cent plan to increase full-time employment, while 15 per cent plan to decrease.

They are scared of a left-of-center Liberal government, or worse, an NDP government.
They should be afraid of any kind of a Liberal Government. Nowadays it is the Governments that are collecting all the money and leaving little for the Consumers. Add to that all the debt that people have (Mostly Credit Card) and the future doesnt look to bright.

The Four levels of Government in BC should start to reduce taxes and spending. They should lead by example. They can puff out their little chests, and make all the promises they want, however if they are not willing to take any action, then it is all for naught.

We need to get the Government off the backs of taxpayers and business.

Absolutely. We are definitely over-governed, and tax cuts DO work. But first we have to be given some, and there's slight chance of that happening so long as the "bookkeeping" used by the government differs from the bookkeeping used by any other business providing goods and services to the general public.
