Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George has agreed to provide about $8 grand to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Rick Hansen Man in Motion tour.
The Rick Hansen Foundation is marking the anniversary with a national relay that will be held over a nine month period starting August 24th of this year in Newfoundland and will end in Vancouver in 2012.
Just as the Olympic Torch Celebrations were held in numerous communities, Prince George has been selected to be an “End of Day Celebration” community as part of this special anniversary.
It is anticipated the relay would arrive in Prince George in either late April or early May of 2012.
The Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay and End of Day Celebration are supposed to “provide an opportunity to celebrate the Relay’s arrival, provide an opportunity for the community to come together, recognize local difference makers, showcase the unique passion of this community, recognize regional talent and personalities, celebrate our heritage and traditions and progress that has been made and inspire a new generation to take action”
The event will be free of charge and will be designed to be barrier-free.
