Prince George, B.C.- The weekend snowfall   set a new precipitation record for Prince George.
Sunday, January 16th,   Prince George was hit with about 27.5 centimetres of snow. The water equivalent is 17.3 millimetres, and that is over the old record of 16.5 millimetres set back on January 16th of 1977.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele says P.G. came very close to setting a new one day snowfall record for January. The 27.5 centimetres of snow was just shy of the 29 centimetres that was dumped on Prince George on January 22nd back in 1958.
The area is also well on pace to surpass the average snowfall for January. The average snowfall for the month is 55.8 centimetres, and we have already had about 50cm with half the month to go.
Steele says while the temperature will start to warm up a little this week, there is another disturbance heading our way that will likely bring another few centimetres of snow Thursday and Friday.
