I am not saying that all Transport Truck drivers are bad drivers, I am sure there are a rare few that are ok but seriously......so many accidents are caused by them it's ridiculous and they still drive like crap. I drive out to the airport every day to and from work and I ALWAYS end up behind a semi driver in the fast lane attempting to pass someone going UP HILL.. or cutting me off going into the fast lane to try and pass someone. They are scary drivers and someone needs to address this issue because they are everywhere....even in the residential areas. They hold up traffic and cause accidents, they think they are all fast and everything while going down a straight stretch with no lights or hills and pass people but then once they hit a light or hill they hold everyone else up...and what good is it having 2 lanes when both lanes are occupied with big rigs. I don't know what the solution would be but all I know is having them drive the way they do on the roads is dangerous and frustrating.

I am , or was a Truck Driver. You are right almost but uneducated. Not trying to make you look bad or be a jerk. It is the truth. You simply do not understand what it takes to operate a large truck. So the truck passing up hill should only be passing a slower truck and should be doing it in safe manor. There are a fair share of bad truck drivers out there, and in the past few years more than usual, which is one reason I stopped. But the fact is 90% of traffic accidents involving passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles are the fault of the driver of the passenger vehicle. Not the Trucker. This is plainly because very few drivers take a driving course , and even if they do the education on sharing the roads with large transports is very minimal. If you want to know how to share the road in safety with large truck head down to the DMV and get a commercial drivers learners book. They are free , or if you have the chance to go for a ride along with a trucker you might know , go for it. Best way to see the road through a truckers eyes. Just a side note , I am a million miles accident free in a commercial transport .
Has anyone noticed the number of bad drivers is increasing in all classes? What does that tell us about the training?

The traning sucks!
The more the government is involved in something, the sooner it will fail.
I actually drove by this accident Monday morning. In my opinion (because this is what we are supposed to leave on this site) is that it was not 100% the fault of the Rig driver. The pickup truck actually hit the side of the Tractor Trailer. The road did not seam icy at all to me in that section, so to me, it looked as though that if the pick up driver was watching the road and following the speed limit for the road conditions, he should have had enough time to stop before driving into the Rig. I would not want to have the responsibility of driving a big truck. It takes a lot of skill to be able to maneuver and control one of those huge trucks. I believe that these drivers should not be blamed for any bad driving skills more than any other person driving any other vehicle.
HarleyGuy has it right! I ran super B tankers and chiptrucks for a number of years and was amazed at the absolute stupidity of so many drivers.
HarleyGuy72, Dragonmaster, you guys are bang on. I have 2 1/2 million miles in trucks and I wish I could have had film of all the stupid things other drivers do around trucks. These things or films of them should be taught in driving schools and courses. DEFINITELY. I even had a ghost car pull a u-turn in front of me one time on a 100km limit highway. I was a fully loaded B-train. I reported him. My first driving boss told me that as a professional driver you have to do all of your own driving and half of eveybody else's too. That is absolutely correct. You have to think for other drivers because they don't think for themselves.
