Brett Connolly Back In As Cougars Host Blazers Tonight
By 250 News
The Prince George Cougars welcome the Kamloops Blazers to town Wednesday night, with the teams squaring off for the sixth time this season.
The Cougars get a big boost in the line-up with Captain Brett Connolly returning to action after missing two weeks with a sprained MCL injury. The original timeline called for Connolly to miss at least three weeks, putting the Prince George product a week ahead of schedule. The Cougars have gained momentum after a thrilling 4-3 shoot-out win in Chilliwack Saturday, ending a six game road losing streak. Taylor Stefishen scored twice, giving the 20-year old from North Vancouver five goals in the last five games.
The Cougars are 4-1-0-0 against the Blazers this season, winning the last four encounters. The last time Kamloops came to Prince George, the Cougars won back-to-back 3-2 decisions on December 17 and 18. The Cougars started their streak over Kamloops with an 8-1 victory in Kamloops October 16 and then defeated the Blazers at Interior Savings Centre 7-5 on November 27. The Cougars and Blazers don't see each other again until the last weekend of the regular season when they collide for a home-and-home series on March 18 and 19.
Charles Inglis and Martin Marincin lead the Cougars with eight points in the season series and Inglis is tied with Connolly with a team leading four goals against the Blazers. Puck drop is 7:00pm at CN Centre and tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
