Prince George, B.C. - The search is on for people to take a job with Statistics Canada for the Census which is set for May.
The 2011 Census requires about 400 people to carry out the work in the Northern Interior of B.C, as part of a national team of 35 thousand.
Jobs are available for a variety of supervisory and non-supervisory positions.
Crew leaders (Supervisors) are paid $18.04 an hour plus authorized expensed. They will be employed from early March or mid April to mid August of this year. The actual starting dates and length of employment will vary by assignment. The Crew leader is responsible for all activities related to the enumeration of an area referred to as a Crew Leader District. The Crew leader trains, leads and supervises a team of 10 to 12 enumerators during the census. The job may also require the recruitment and selection of enumerators.
Enumerators are paid $14.72 per hour plus authorized expenses and may do one or more of the following duties depending on their assignment:
· conduct personal interviews to obtain completed questionnaires;
· drop off census questionnaires at dwellings in a specified area and listing the address of each dwelling;
· collect census information from people living in collective dwellings (for example, hospitals, hotels, nursing homes and school residences); and/or
· contact respondents by phone and in-person to obtain completed questionnaires.
The requirements to be an enumerator are pretty basic, applicants need to be over the age of 18, and able to commit to at least 20 hours per week including evenings, weekends and holidays.
