BC Government's Most Popular Website Gets An Overhaul

Prince George, B.C. - Close to three-million people clicked on the Ministry of Transportation's DriveBC website every month last year, making it the provincial government's number-one site.
Minister Shirley Bond says since it launch in 2005, it's become an invaluable tool -- providing motorists with details of current highway conditions, travel advisories and scheduled construction work. And Bond says work has been underway to make it even more user-friendly, "People accessing our old DriveBC website have had the chance to try the new one for three months now and the great feedback we've received has helped us develop the new site."
She says the highlight of the new site is an enhanced map view of the province's highway network. Users can roll over icons on the map to get details of highway events and webcam information -- there's improved access to the ministry's 175 webcams placed strategically on routes around the province, so you can check conditions in real time. The new DriveBC also includes links to avalanche updates and border crossing delays.
The Transportation Minister says the fine-tuning will continue in the months ahead and further improvements will be added to make the site an even better resource.
