Prince George, B.C. - RCMP say an autopsy will be conducted today on the 17-year-old girl found dead in a home in a rural area, south of Burns Lake.
Officers from Burns Lake were called to a home on Uncha Mountain Road last Wednesday. Upon arrival, they determined the teen was already deceased.
Few other details are known and the young woman's identity has not been released. Uncha Mountain Road is on the south side of Francois Lake, 30-kilometres south of Burns Lake. The road lies to the east of the community of Southbank, near Uncha Mountain Red Hills Provincial Park.
RCMP Sergeant Rob Vermeulen says results of the autopsy are expected mid-week, providing police with further insight into the cause of death. In the meantime, the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
