Prince George, B.C. - This Friday at 5pm marks the deadline to register for a party membership with the B.C. Liberals in order to vote for the leader to replace Gordon Campbell at the end of this month...

The party's Director of Communications, Lilian Kim, says, she doesn't have a tally on new memberships at this point, "But what I can say is that it's 'strong' in terms of what's coming in."

"It's such an exciting time to be part of B.C. politics," says Kim.  "I think people are feeling invigorated, people want to get involved...so it's not surprising to see that people are catching on and wanting to be part of it as well."

Members in good standing by February 4th are eligible to attend an extraordinary party convention in Vancouver on February 12th, where they will have an opportunity to vote for the way in which the new leader is elected.  In addition, there will be eight regional venues set up across the province, where delegates can view the Vancouver convention and participate in the debate by way of video and audio links.  The three venues in the north are:  at the Best Western Inn in Terrace, at the Civic Centre in Prince George, and the Pomeroy Hotel in Fort St. John.

Kim says, "One of the voting systems is (that could be selected), of course, the 'one-member, one-vote' and another is the preferential ballot -- so they'll have that opportunity on the 12th to see how they want to see it go through on the 26th."

Regardless of the method decided on, all members will be able to cast a ballot in the February 26th leadership vote.

Cheers
Methinks that I will probably miss the deadline.
Note to self: Don't forget to pass on this great opportunity
They're beginning to believe their own lies. The delusion is so much better than the reality.
Any non-liberals joining just to have a say in who the new leader will be? I would consider it just to vote for anyone besides Kevin Fal(neo)con.
We'll just get more of the same no matter who gets the job. Might as well save your money, with all the further tax grabs coming you'll need it!
