Prince George, B.C. -  You name it, we had it in January -- mountains of snow, rain that turned backyard rinks into outdoor swimming pools, and then a deep freeze to round out the month.

Environment Canada's Jim Steele says, however, there were no daily or monthly records established; however, total snowfall was 62.7cm, which was 112-percent of the normal 55.8cm.

The most snowfall in one day came on January 16th, when Prince George residents awoke to find 22.5cm on the ground.

Steele says, "A vigorous disturbance tracked across the region on the 16th and 17th, bringing a whopping 30cm of snow to the area over the two-day period."

The meteorologist says total rainfall was slightly less than normal for the month at 5.9mm, 95-percent of the normal 6.2 mm.  January 24th saw the most rain in one day, 2.4mm.

In terms of temperatures, the warmest and coldest days were just four days apart -- we saw a maximum of 6.2-degrees on the 27th and froze through minus-25.9 degrees on the night of the 31st.

I thought of January as being a little mellower than usual and I live north of the city.
