Prince George, B.C. - Pacific Brewery has just announced plans for a $1-million dollar upgrade to its brewery and headquarters in Prince George.
According to a news release, work actually began at the start of the month and "Pacific Brewery will source services and equipment from local suppliers wherever possible."
The investment will, in part, go towards 'refreshing' the brewery's exterior along Nechako Road, create a renewed hospitality area and includes purchase andinstallation of new brewing and packaging equipment. Company President and CEO Kazuko Komatsu says the interior upgrades will incorporate local pine beetle wood to demonstrate support for the region's forest industry.
Komatsu says, "British Columbians have been very enthusiastic about our beers and we would also like to thank all our customers and parters for their support and loyalty which has enabled us to make this significant re-investment."
The brewery was originally built in 1957. It employs 60 people during peak seasons. As part of events to celebrate Komatsu's 20-year of ownership, a water program will be introduced this spring.
