With 15 games to play this 2010-11 season, the Prince George Cougars can get themselves on more solid footing this weekend for a spot in the WHL's Western Conference playoff picture. The Cougars host the Everett Silvertips Friday and Saturday at CN Centre.
The Cougars are back home after a 2-3-0-0 Alberta road trip that ended Sunday with a 4-3 overtime victory in Red Deer against the Rebels. The Cougars have won their last three games at CN Centre and since December 14 the Cougars are 10-3-0-0 at home. Friday kicks off a four game homestand for Prince George that continues next week with back-to-back games with the Portland Winterhawks Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Cougars and Silvertips will play three times in the next nine nights, with the Cats in Everett February 26. The Silvertips opened the season series with a 4-2 victory on January 29 in Everett, with leading scorer Tyler Maxwell notching a pair of goals in the win. The Cougars go into the game sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 28-26-2-1 for 59 points, six behind Kelowna and Vancouver for first in the BC division and four up on the Silvertips. Everett has dropped its last three games and are 23-25-5-4 for 55 points and are coming off a 7-2 loss at home to Spokane Wednesday.
Cougars Captain Brett Connolly goes into the game on an eight game point streak and five game goal streak, collecting eight goals and 12 points over the point streak. Seven of those goals have been scored in the last five games.
Puck drop between the Cougars and Silvertips is 7:00pm at CN Centre. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
