Prince George, B.C. - Both Prince George participants on B.C.'s hockey team had high aspirations heading into the 2011 Winter Games...
And they realized their dreams with a 7-4 victory over Quebec in the gold medal game in Halifax this afternoon.
If you read player Joshua Connolly's bio for the Games, his goal was to "win a medal'. One of the three Team BC coaches, Brent Arsenault was a even more specific, writing "bring Gold back to British Columbia."
And, for the first time since 1979, Team BC will be doing just that. The game wrapped up the first week of competition in Halifax.
Both Connolly and Arsenault, and Brett Harris of 108-Mile will be returning to PG to re-join the Cariboo Cougars.
The local medal haul did not end there...
Both Aaron Neumann and Arthur Roots, along with teammate Jasper MacKenzie of Kelowna, clinched the bronze medal in today's 3x7.5km Biathlon Relay. The team finished just behind Alberta in first and second-place Quebec.

And another member of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, 16-year-old Sarah Beaudry, closed out her time at the 2011 Winter Games with a bronze medal in the women's 3x6km Biathlon Relay.
It was Beaudry's third medal of the games - she's coming home with a gold and two bronze medals.
At the end of week one, Team BC sits in second place to Quebec in the overall medal count. While that province has tallied 26 gold, 25 silver and 16 bronze. Team BC has 14 gold, 11 silver, and 15 bronze.
