Golden- Three people have died in an avalanche in the Hope River, Mount Gerald area near Golden.

A group of four men from Halkirk Alberta, two fathers, ages 48 and 50 along with their sons in the twenties, were snowmobiling in the area at 4.50 Saturday.

Part of the group was high marking while the rest of the group were watching from below , when they apparently triggered an avalanche.

The slide buried the entire group. A group of sledders nearby were able to reach the scene quickly and were able to dig them all out of the snow.

One of the males was resuscitated, while efforts to revive the other three failed. Both fathers and one of the sons perished in the slide.

This was the second avalanche RCMP responded to on Saturday.

RIP!
RIP, my condolances to the family.

High Marking is a dangerous sport.
So is driving your car, crossing the street, skiing, dirt biking, flying, hockey, swimming, riding the bus, cycling, using stairs and breathing!
