Prince George, B.C.- Two young people have been arrested following a vehicle theft and crash that happened last week.

Prince George RCMP say that last Thursday ( Feb. 17th) just before 5:00 p.m. they got an anonymous 9-1-1 call advising there had been a crash on highway16 east at Geddes Road, about 10 minutes east of the City Centre.

Police, the BC Ambulance Service and Ferdale-Tabor Fire / Rescue were dispatched to the call.

While en route, Police received a second call, this time from the female driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision. She stated that two young males were in the other vehicle, that the vehicle was stolen and they fled the scene.

Eight additional Police Officers and a Police Service Dog were dispatched to the area to assist with the investigation and search for the two suspects.

One suspect, a 15 year old male, was apprehended within minutes. With the assistance of residents in the area who provided information, Police Service Dog Azar tracked the second suspect into a wooded area through waist deep snow.

The suspect, a 16 year old male, received minor bite wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment, before being transported to the Detachment for processing.

Investigators believe the 15 year old was driving the stolen Green 1997 GMC pick-up and tried to make a turn off Highway 16 onto Geddes Road, when he collided with a white 2007 Honda Civic, being driven by a 52 year old resident of Prince George.

Before fleeing, the 15 year old checked on the condition of the driver of the other vehicle and used her cell phone to dial 9-1-1 (the original anonymous 9-1-1 call).

The unlicensed 15 year old Prince George resident is facing multiple charges including Possession of Stolen Property and Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision.

The female driver of the Civic was transported to the University Hospital of Northern BC with unknown, but non-life threatening injuries.

At least he checked to make sure she was OK. There is hope for this kid.
That might be the only thing that is going to save his butt. Eitherway, his skin is not worth saving, incarcerate him.
Hang him - it will teach him a lesson!
Given the state of the justice system in this town, province or country, maybe after all the effort by the RCMP has been accounted for, maybe they (the cops) can do a "results oriented" analysis of the effort to apprehend these unnamed scofflaws and the potential penalties for both.Maybe my RCMP tax dollars should be better spent than all this foofraw and having the judge let these brats off with just a warning, probation or a free ride home. Telling them that they are in "open custody". Big laff, just an adventure to tell yer friends AND no penalty.
They stole a vehicle, they caused a collision which injured the other driver, the damaged the other vehicle, then they fled the scene...there are NO mitigating circumstances at all.

These misfits know that there will be ZERO consequences - that's why they keep doing it!

What a pathetic manner to start their life!

Too bad the dog had to be called off. What will be the total bill to society? Not to mention the pain and suffering of the other injured driver!

Open custody? That is a real oxymoron, like military intelligence!

Send them to Mexico.
Lets have their names and pictures, we have to know who to look for! Piss on the secrecy of so called underage law breakers.
Wow, is this really what the world is coming to? Maybe I should seriously consider moving my family to the middle of nowhere.
