This is a great opportunity.
It will be so nice when the Liberal leadership race is over!!!
While citizens in several countries fight and die in the streets struggling for democracy, we in British Columbia dumbly await the appointment of a new premier by a gaggle of right wing ideologues.

What's wrong with this picture? Where is our Liberation Square?
The fact that we as British Columbians are about to get a Premier who wasn't elected by the people, just goes to show how little democracy there is in this Province/Country.
The difference between the problems in the Middle East and BC is that by at least 2013. we will get a chance to decide if that "new" leader is to be the premier any more. The second difference is that the people in the Middle East are dying to get the chance to vote-In British Columbia, almost half of us don't bother to go to the polls. None of us had to dodge gunfire to exercise our right to vote, so it seems we just take it granted. Sad.
Well the Liberals can't even get their leadership vote done without controversy...and we are supposed to believe these , in my opinion, Campbell, yes person, want to bees, are going to be able to run this province?
Sardonic: "...we in British Columbia dumbly await the appointment of a new premier by a gaggle of right wing ideologues"

And, of course: We in British Columbia dumbly await the appointment of a new opposition leader by a gaggle of left wing ideologues!
The Farmers Market now wants to renovate and beautify thier current building on taxpayers money. This is a privately owned building, owned by the same people who bought the PG Hotel and then promptly turned a profit by selling it back to the city. I think it's time the Farmers Market rethink thier location and possibly look into moving out of the downtown where they will get more business and can pay for thier own renovations. I am deadset against renovating a privately owned building using taxpayers money, regardless of who owns it.
I noticed Sassafras Savouries have left their building on George St. This is the only building left next to the PG Hotel building. Then I noticed that there's a for sale sign on the side of this building. I believe it's Gordon Langer which isn't he with the group that bought the PG Hotel?

Anyway, wouldn't it make sense to tear down the PG Hotel and this old junky building too? Sure would be nice to see that whole block get redeveloped.

When's that wrecking ball coming? Last I heard from Opinion 250 said that demolition was supposed to start happening before spring. Well it can't happen soon enough for my liking. Knock it down already.
Are there any farmers at the Farmer's Market? Last time I went there (in the summer) it was more of a craft fair then anything else. There were a couple of vegetable retailers but not much else.
Inside the farmers market building last year was a lady selling eggs for five bucks a dozen. It is to laff. But then again, they might have been "free range" collected in a limo.
To PrinceGeorge:

I concede to your point. We will have one appointee facing another.
PICK up your Dog Poop
Well, it appears Switzerland is starting to freeze assets on bank accounts. Hmmm, I wonder where all the crooked people going to bank now.
Flash, i think we will be going to the polls before the end of summer. I am pretty sure that Kevin Falcon will want a Mandate from the people.

Let's see.

Egyptian leader gone.

Libya leader making his last stand,

Gordon Campbell gone tomorrow.

Can Dan Rodgers be far behind?

Nice to see the status quo on the pot hole situation. Wouldn't it be just horrible for city council to concern themselves with the infrastructure of rather than grand schemes like Winter games and a PAC center.

Crime capital of Canada and a leading contender for pot hole capital of North America.

And Gordon Campbell takes his parting shot at the people of BC by endorsing oil tanker traffic along the coast of BC.
Here is an interesting read, no comment, it says it all.

http://www.longislandlawyerblog.com/mother-of-3-arrested-for-taking-pictures-of-tourist-attraction-at-airport
Kinda hard to find any one on the east coast to blame for all their "oil tanker traffic",eh? Bit of a bummer too if ya got more than one province on the east coast. This definitely is the left coast. No pipelines, no oil tankers. My gasoline just magically appears underground at the gas station whenever I need it. Wow!
Ah, Gordo. He'll probably head off to a self-imposed exile on Maui. With enough of a pension to have a driver next time he wants to go on an all day binge.

Then we'll probably see him return in a few years, just like Baby Doc, down in Haiti.

Only he'll be back to lead a Citizen's Initiative Petition campaign against the new BC NDP government's Corporation Capital Tax. The one they'll bring in on ALL businesses, in spite of current promises not to, not long after the next election.

It'll be a tax we'll be told is necessary to protect Healthcare and Education. And is only fair to make up for all the benefits the HST supposedly gave to businesses when it was brought in.

Of course, HST'll still be with us, too. Collected while the Courts try to sort out whether the 2011 Referendum that voted against it is Constitutionally valid or not. With lawyer's bills already exceeding what it took to get a guilty plea out of Basi and Virk. All paid by the taxpayer.

Gordo's campaign, despite the justice of the cause, will fail. He should've known better. The Masters of Finance LIKE high taxation. It makes the value of their 'commodity' ~ money ~ all the more valuable by keeping it scarce.
Anybody see a snow plow?
When did red lights become merely a suggestion?
Why not expand that to When did red lights become merely a suggestion along with the rest fo the motor vehicle act.
It is good to see that they put the "keep right except to pass" signs on the Hart. It gives me something to read while Im stuck behind someone driving in the left lane beside another car...
Probaby the same guy that drives around with his foglights on as well.
Gordo had his day, he turned the province around from a socialist have not province, to a economical and viable province. Considering what our future looked like in 1998 to now. We are doing pretty good, even surviving the beetle kill, US market crash and the olympics.

Thanks Gordo, for doing the thankless job of turning our province around. Hopefully Christy does not become the Liberal leader.
An RCMP officer stopped at a ranch in Prince George, and talked with an old rancher.

He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."

The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there", as he pointed out the location.

The officer verbally exploded saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!"

Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher.

"See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land !!

No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear......do you understand ?!!"

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull......

With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs.....

"Your badge!, show him your BADGE!
There are a number of Farmers at the farmers market, and of course there are crafts also.

Anyone can go to Walmart and buy eggs for $3.00 per dozen. These eggs have shells that are paper thin, and the insides are anemic. However dont let me stop you from supporting Walmart and the Arkansas millionaire owners.

On the other hand the free run eggs at the farmers market for $5.00 per dozen are much larger and better eggs. So it all comes down to quality and supporting local farmers.

Im sure that the Walmart/Super Store shoppers would be the first in line at the Farmers Market if the supply of product from Southern BC and California were to dry up.

We need to support local farms to the extent that we can become somewhat self supporting in agriculture in this area.
Good one!

A man went to a club and sat down at the bar counter to order a drink. A piano player and his monkey were providing entertainment. The monkey climbed up on the counter and dipped his family jewels into the man's martini.

The man got up angrily and walked over to the piano player and asked him:"Do you know a monkey just dipped his family jewels into my martini?"

"No" said the piano player, "but if you hum a couple of bars I may be able to recall it and play it for you."
For those who think that the Winter Games will have a huge impact on Prince George should consider these findings by the Economists of the Holy Cross College in Worcester Mass, in regards to the Olympics in Salt Lake in 2002.

**Governments should view with caution any economic impact estimates**

**The vast majority of independent academic studies of mega-events show the benefits to be a fraction of those claimed by event organizers**

A May 2010 Holy Cross report found Salt Lake 2002 **had a modest short-run impact on employment and no significant impact on total employment in the long run**. That followed a Nov 2008 report that found hotels and restaurants gained $70.6 million, but general merchandise sales fell $167.4 million. This happened, they say, because the Games caused local residents to alter consumption patterns and local residents and regular visitors were displaced by those attending the event.

This will happen in Prince George for the Winter Games. Those people who would normally come to Prince George for the week-end, to shop etc; will have difficulty getting rooms, etc; and will therefore stay away for those two weeks. The same will apply to some people who would normally go to restaurants, etc;

This displacement is rarily if ever factured into the figures put out by those supporting the games. I wonder why??
I sell my free range eggs for $3.50 a dozen; I need to raise my prices. I feel like an oil company. :)
An Imaginary Race

Prince George and Quesnel decided to engage in a race on the Fraser River. Both teams practiced long and hard to achieve their peak performance levels. On the big day they felt ready. Quesnel won by a mile! Prince George moral sagged! City Management decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found, so a consulting firm was hired to investigate the problem and recommend corrective action.

The consultant's findings? The Quesnel team had eight people rowing and one person steering ; the Prince George team had one person rowing and eight people steering.

After a year of study and millions spent analyzing the consulting firm concluded that too many people were steering and not enough rowing on the Prince George team. So, as race day neared again the following year, the Prince George team had completely reorganized.

The new structure ....four steering managers, three area steering managers and a performance review manager for the person rowing the boat, to provide incentive.

The next year the Quesnel team won by TWO miles!!!!

Humiliated, Prince George fired the rower for poor performance and gave the managers a bonus for identifying the problem.

(old Canfor Northwood joke :-P )
Walmart. I don't mind buying the brand name stuff in cans and boxes, but I don't trust the vegetables and meats. Its there delivery line on how it gets to Prince George and what they do to it to make it look fresh.

We as consumers have to realize that we need to be careful of what we eat. Cancer is everywhere, and I believe a lot of it has to do with the food we eat. Vegetables are full of pesticides and Meat is full of growth hormones. The boxed and prepared foods are full of perservatives.

The best that we can do is buy our vegetables, wash them. Buy fresh meats from Roger's Meat, or organic meats out of the Peace River area. don't buy prepared foods, frozen dinners, Frozen Pizza's. So much of what you reach for in the stores have so much crap in it.

Eggs, Buy it from your farmers. They don't dip it in antifreeze.
great jokes. Thanks
He spoke where are you getting your information from, the fiberal website?

We have the second lowest pay rate, and the highest unemployment and that is from the fiberal supporting media. How about our huge dept load. Sure someone is making money but its not the working guy.
Flash, It's my opinion that voting should be mandatory for federal and provincial elections.
"Flash, It's my opinion that voting should be mandatory for federal and provincial elections."

I'll go a step further and add "municipal" to the list. I believe that municipal governments are, by far, the most fiscally irresponsible of any of the levels of government.

Wow....

Apparently I hit the "Post Comment" button by accident.... so I'll start again...

-----------------------------------------

Here's the problem with the price of some foods today.

The general public just does not understand the importance of
quality healthy foods. Most of us only worry about the price becasue "why spend more" when I can get it for less.

Well people, unfortunately with a lot of foods out there today cheaper also means unhealthier.

We are not educated in school about nutrition and the old "Food Groups" way of thinking (introduced years ago) has turned out to be nothing more than a government industry enhancement program for algriculture.

Look back when that "way of eating" was introduced and you'll see that heart disease, cancer, diabetes and a whole bunch of other ailments SKYROCKETED since.

It's all about education.

And sadly only you can do that for yourself....

Start reading people... then 5 dollar eggs are gonne seem like the ONLY WAY TO GO!

It's your health... you make the call!

What makes you think that people who vote only because they are forced to will be responsible voters and elect better governments? Doesn't seem likely to me.
Gas prices are on the way up...saw $1.239 at a few stations already...
A 20'x20' garden in your back yard is a great way to save some money on groceries. Potatoes, carrots, beets, herbs... endless possibilities and a little water. Why get raked over the coals for produce when you can do it yourself with little effort.

The farmers market should be getting money from Commonwealth Realty. Or work out a deal on lower rent in trade for the farmers working to fix the place up.

Also, We may not get a new Premier this weekend..

verballabel

I completely agree with you on the back yard garden idea...

Great suggestion.
Produce is the cheapest part of groceries so don't waste your time.

How many Lieberal leaders can dance on the "head of a PIN"? Get it?
I bet they wish they hadn't "gone postal" with those pins. Get it??
Everybody's a comedian, eh?
NoSeverance

It's not about wasting your time. At least you have control over what YOU put into the dirt.

Also... there's nothing better than walking into your backyard garden and sitting and eating peas, carrots and raspberries...

Miss those days...

I have to laugh when I see the sign "organically grown" at the Save On Foods. Every now and then a spray of polluted water (chlorine and Fluoride) drown these so-called organic veggies. People actually pay a higher price for this crap. What a joke. It's probably healthier to eat at MIckey D's.
My grand father grew a super "organic" garden in Grande Prairie using bullshit and he lived to a ripe old 90.
My grandfather lived to be 119 because he kept his mouth shut!

Filled the tank in Airdrie yesterday, $1.02 a liter and NO HST, NO PST. Gotta love it!!

Oh, almost forgot.............NO CARBON TAX either!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Taxi
119, was he the oldest man in the world.

we need to think about what we put in our bodies. I try to make at least half of my meals from vegetables and meat and use very little prepared sauces and etc. I can easily go for weeks with out eating fast foods and or pop.

Some can't make it two days.
Always remember the Grand Opening of the new, "organic" food store in our town. Occupied a building that was previously owned by my dad, and they invited him down to see all the changes. So he's in there being toured around by the manager, when one of the cashiers comes running over and tells her they'd just run out of the organic apples, and a lot of people were asking for them. The manger tells the cashier to stall them, and she'll send someone over to Safeway right away and buy a half dozen boxes (of those apples that are anything but "organic" ~they've probably been doused with every pesticide known to man!), and have them re-boxed into wooden apple crates in the back and then put out. In other words, the suckers will never know the difference!
"Look back when that "way of eating" was introduced and you'll see that heart disease, cancer, diabetes and a whole bunch of other ailments SKYROCKETED since."

They have ... but so has the average lifespan increased.

Christy won!!!
