Prince George, B.C. - The snowfall that started Saturday night, and kept on through last night, set a new record.
The old mark for snowfall on February 27th, was 14.5 centimetres set in 2006. Yesterday, Prince George was hit with 23 centimetres, making yesterday’s snowfall the worst dump on February 27th ever recorded.
As for the month of February, Environment Canada’s Jim Steele says with half a day to go, we have seen 77.3 centimetres of snow, when the normal amount for February is 30 centimetres.
And while the snow may not be falling today, or tomorrow, Steele advises to keep the shovel handy. “We have another system that is approaching the south coast, and that will push the colder arctic air back north. It means we could be looking at another major snow event on Wednesday.”
