International Women's Day Breakfast

Prince George, B.C. - There will be a sell-out crowd at a breakfast later this morning to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day...
The day is meant to recognize the social, economic and political achievements of women around the globe. While it's actually Tuesday, March 8th, 230 women will begin the celebrations early with food, music, and guest speakers at the Ramada at 9am.
Organizer, Sussanne Skidmore, says, "Normally, we only sell 200 tickets but we decided to up it this year because it's the anniversary celebration - I've been getting phone calls all week, but I sold the last ticket on Monday."
Outgoing Prince George RCMP Superintendent, Brenda Butterworth-Carr, Maryanne Arcand, and Wendy Young are the featured speakers at the breakfast.
On Tuesday, the Northern Women's Centre at UNBC and the Phoenix Transition House host 'Jezzebel's Jam' at ArtSpace in honour of International Women's Day. The evening event includes two bands, spoken word, dancing and a 'writing wall' where women can write out their wishes - '100 wishes for 100-years'.
There will be a dessert potluck and admission is by donation with the money going to support both the Women's Centre and Transition House. The doors open at 7pm.
